An inability to offer more compact messaging windows means you often are having only three quarters of the screen real estate dedicated to your messages compared to what WhatsApp or Discord can provide. Stability and design choices are starting to ape some of WhatsApp’s offerings, allowing you to have some more customisability – but these offerings only scratch the surface of what other clients provide. Signal offers a glimpse of secure messaging on iOS, but ultimately falls short as a second-class citizen on the App Store compared to the other mainstream chat clients. Developers please take note - we aren’t all kids and we need features for grumpy, impatient, time restrained adults that just want to share photos and jokes sometimes. The aggravation in using Signal may send me back to WhatsApp for these features. If I do them one by one (very tedious) when I’ve done the second a keyboard appears which cannot be removed - I have to go back to the original sender, find out where I was up to and go again. Also I can’t go to media and select multiple images to forward, the only option is to delete. But the latest update has restricted sending to multiple people, now only 5 are permitted. Notifications are hit and miss, I don’t want stickers, wallpaper or anything infantile, some photo messages arrive blurry and no idea why. I’ve never liked anything FB owned but due to this service having issues I’m struggling to get people to change. I’ve used signal and I’ve donated to signal. I therefore ask again, particularly in light of further overtures in certain quarters about bypassing Signals security by circumventing authentication in group chats (for eg ) can an explanation be provided for this persistent, recurrent behaviour as lack of the same is making me question the integrity of this App.

which is why I am especially anxious as to whether there is any less than subtle replacing of trusted binaries taking place, given one can’t exactly readily check for reproducible build and sideload having confirmed checksums.

I have reported this behaviour previously and the response I received from the Devs was that this would be expected behaviour if I were on the Beta channel. I then checked in to the AppStore this morning to see if any updates are available and see the same update once more requiring download and install. Not sure whether anyone else experiences this for each and every update, but I received a notification re an update Tuesday this week, which I dutifully downloaded and then opened briefly.
